Beginning a Blog

When C and R told me that they started blogs, I didn't think that I would do the same. But then I remembered that I used to love to write, and now I don't stretch that muscle very often. So, this morning I felt inspired. I went to blogger and created my blog - so simple! Then, it gave me two choices - to design the blog site or to post right away. Being the detail-oriented person that I am, I started playing with the background, the layout, colors, gadgets... I went the design route even though I knew in the back of my mind that I would spend too much time on this and then not spend much time actually writing. Funny how I know my own nature but take the predictable route so much of the time. Sometimes I can catch myself and choose to do the opposite. It's fun to do the opposite of what I would naturally do.

I don't want to spend much more of my Saturday morning in front of the computer, but I will at least explain the title of my blog - Bluejays. Several years ago, a friend of mine told me that she had a special thing with God - every time she saw a particular object (I don't remember now what it was), she felt like that was a little reminder from God that He loved her. I thought that was pretty cool, so I asked God for something that I could look for as a reminder, and He gave me a picture of a bluejay. So when I see a bluejay, it makes me smile, and it is a special reminder that He loves me. I recently moved into a new house, and I have spotted bluejays in the back yard more than a handful of times. It turns out there is a family of bluejays living there! I am fascinated by these beautiful colorful birds, and I will watch them until they fly out of sight. My eyes are glued on them all the more as I think about how God loves me and how He created little masterpieces like bluejays for me to enjoy.

  1. Wow!The bluejay's wings remind me of a stained blass window! Especially the lower picture. I've never seen a view of them quite like that one. You sure are your mother's daughter taking joy in God's beautiful creation and creatures!:) It always fills my heart just to stop and admire His beautiful gifts to us! And the writing interest comes from your Dad. How precious! Happy writing! Love you, Mama xoxo
